The American University Sailing Team has some exciting news- we
are currently in the process of acquiring 2 near-new Flying Juniors(FJs) for our quickly growing team! However, we need your support. We
have set a fundraising goal of $6,000 so that we can purchase these
boats- and we’re finally more than half way there!
Having boats is vital to the continued success of our team. We are one
of the few teams in the MAISA conference without our own boats, let
alone a coach and other vital parts of a successful team. Yet, we have
still been a competitive presence in college sailing and have had a
steep increase in new sailors and prospective students interested in
the sport or with experience. With our own boats that we can use on our
own time rather than relying on the schedule of Georgetown and GW and their
willingness to lend us boats out of their own fleet, we will continue
this upward trend. While Georgetown and GW have been more than generous, their
patience with our slow expansion won't last forever. We need these
boats to stay competitive as a college sailing team!
